Initial Assessment
We begin your appointment with a detailed case history. With a detailed awareness of your presenting problem and your medical history, we can devise the best approach for getting you back to full health and pain free.
Expert Treatments
By working closely together during your recovery, we can help you alleviate your pain as well as helping you understand the causes and therefore help prevent future reoccurrences.
Home Exercises
We provide a hands-on approach with each individual patient, but also give you with the tools to continue your rehabilitation at home with a personally tailored exercise programme.
At your first appointment your osteopath will take a detailed case history. Here you will fully explain your pain and injury, let us know about any health conditions you have and anything else you feel is important.
When your osteopath has completed their examinations they will discuss with you what’s happening and give you the opportunity to ask questions. They will explain everything they’re doing and answer any further questions you might have.
Our principal osteopath, Shane Morris, released his debut book ‘The Back Pain Recovery Plan’ in September 2019. It has been a bestseller in multiple Amazon categories. All patients receive a complementary copy on request with treatment.
Our treatment rooms are clean and modern.
Here when you need us most.
We fit your treatments around your schedule.
Most of our patients come through word-of-mouth recommendations from happy customers.
If you are in Leyton or Stratford and haven’t tried osteopathy yet because you’re afraid it will hurt, we’d strongly recommend putting your worries aside and giving us a visit. A small minority of people feel a little achey after treatment but most people don’t even feel that. There are some techniques that are a little more forceful but we are selective in how we use them and would only ever do so with your consent.
Just yourself. Having comfortable loose fitting clothing is helpful but not essential.
Wear comfortable loose fitting clothes if possible. Some patients like to change into shorts or gym gear.
If you need to cancel an appointment we respectfully request that you give us 24 hours notice so the appointment can be offered to someone else. Failure to do so, unless there are unforeseeable circumstances, will result in full price of the appointment being charged.
During your initial consultation your osteopath will discuss your treatment plan and how many treatments are likely to be required. They will constantly reassess and update according to your progress and how you feel.
Osteopaths treat a wide range of conditions that include back and neck pain, peripheral joint pain, trapped nerves, repetitive strain, headaches, sporting injuries, arthritic pain, and many other conditions. If you’d like to discuss whether osteopathy can help you please call us on 07544 856 334 or email leytonosteopaths@gmail.com.
Our osteopaths have undertaken five years comprehensive training. They are fully registered with the General Osteopathic Council.
Buteyko breathing technique is used for the treatment of asthma, anxiety, sleep apnea and many other breathing related disorders and is available at the practice. You can find out more about Buteyko at London Buteyko.
No! Although we get referrals from GP practices it is not necessary. Osteopaths are primary healthcare practitioners. They are trained to identify if you need to referred for further investigations. For example, we occasionally refer people to their doctor because it is apparent their back pain is actually caused by a kidney problem.
Osteopaths, physiotherapists and chiropractors often treat similar types of conditions. So, if you are in Leytonstone with back pain or in Leyton with neck pain you have options when it comes to your treatment; the key is to find the right therapist for you.
Osteopathy take a ‘holistic’ approach, often treating related areas away from the site of injury. We also assess ongoing postural and mechanical problems people have and how these may be feeding into the problem. Factors such as lifestyle, job and exercise are considered and incorporated into the treatment plan.
Osteopathy treatments are typically 30 – 45 minutes and involve soft-tissue massage and joint articulation & manipulation.
Physiotherapists traditionally work with injuries and rehabilitation, mainly dealing with muscles and ligaments. Treatments combine ‘hands-on’ muscle manipulation work with the use of technical equipment (such as ultrasound), plus exercise prescription.
Chiropractors focus their treatment mostly on the spine. A chiropractor uses manipulation, or to use their terminology, ‘chiropractic adjustment’ as their main treatment modality. An appointment with a chiropractor is typically shorter than an osteopathy or physiotherapy appointment.
Feel free to contact us if you have any questions about how osteopathy works, or to arrange an initial assessment appointment. This enables us to discuss the reasons you are thinking of coming to us, and whether we can help you.
You can also call us on 02030 961 900 if you would prefer to leave a message or speak to us first. We are happy to discuss any queries or questions you may have prior to arranging an initial appointment.
