IDD Therapy Spinal Decompression

At Leyton Osteopaths, we help people who are living with stubborn spinal problems that haven’t

improved with manual therapy or rehabilitation alone.

Our team offers IDD Therapy, the advanced non-surgical spinal decompression treatment designed for persistent disc-related and nerve pain.

Many patients respond well to osteopathy, physical therapy and exercise. But when pain keeps returning, it is often because a specific disc or spinal segment is not healing or functioning properly.

IDD Therapy enables us to precisely target the injured level, gently decompressing the disc, improving

mobility and helping to restore normal function as part of a structured programme of care.

This safe, computer-guided treatment is gentle, progressive and has helped thousands of people move

forward when nothing else has made a lasting difference.

What is IDD Spinal Decompression?

IDD Therapy gently relieves pressure on targeted spinal discs and progressively restores function with a goal of long term pain resolution. At Leyton Osteopaths we use the Accu-SPINA system to deliver IDD

Therapy, recognised globally as the gold standard in spinal decompression.

How It Works

  • Patients lie comfortably on the treatment table, which moves from vertical to horizontal.
  • Using ergonomic harnesses, the affected area of the spine is gently connected to the machine.
  • Computer-controlled, precisely measured distraction forces are applied to decompress and mobilise the spinal segment.

By decompressing (taking pressure off) an injured or bulging/ herniated disc and gently working the soft

tissues, we can ease pain, improve mobility in the spine and allow the body’s natural healing

mechanisms to operate more efficiently. The goal is to work stiff ligaments and tight muscles, help the body to retract a disc bulge and to help restore function.

Spinal Decompression appointments last 45 minutes. This consists of 10 minutes heat therapy, 25–26 minutes spinal decompression and 10 minutes cold therapy afterwards. Patients

find the treatment comfortable, so much so that many actually fall asleep.
